Landkarte Farranfore - Killarney

15th Day:

Cycling to Farranfore

WegweiserWe were a bit melancholic when we packed our tent (wet again, of course) into the bag for the last time, rolled our sleeping bags for the last time, and made tea on the camping stove for the last time. Luckily, our flight was only in the afternoon so we could take our time cycling to Farranfore airport. On the way we stopped about a thousand times to take some especially interesting or funny farewell snapshots.
Naturally, there were the mandatory Irish road signs and the last excruciating pictures of ourselves – we had to fill the film! At a filling station, we spent the last Irish Pounds for food and drink. And we arrived at the airport much to early.

Flight back to Germany

We wrapped our bikes so they could go on the plane, stuffed all the many small bags into few bigger ones and checked in our luggage. We watched slightly horrified how the workers threw our bikes on a pile on the concrete in front of the plane. Luckily, they were not damaged (and to be honest, the same things happens with suitcases all the time, so maybe we were overreacting a little). The flight back home with Lufthansa was quiet and we landed safe and on time at Munich airport.

Summary:

It was an amazing holiday that was great fun. We will plan a tour through Galway, Donegal and Northern Ireland at some stage later in our life. The country is beautiful there as well.
